Another success for ‘You’re Hired’ event!
Wednesday, 25th November 2009 - 11:41:00The Business School recently hosted the second of its ‘You’re Hired’ events aimed at final year Business, Law and Economics students. The event aimed to help prepare students for the challenge of finding a job once they finish their studies, and to develop particular skills that employers look for in graduates. The event was organised by the Faculty Employability Coordinator, Tonia Galati, and brought together employers including The Smarty Train, Hays Accounting & Finance and RBI, as well as staff and alumni from the Business School. Plus this event also included some graduates from 2009 who assisted with delivering sessions and also networking to share their experiences. The event consisted of two main elements, the first being a full set of workshops for everyone to attend, to help them maximise their strengths when entering the highly competitive job market. These workshops were led by employers and recent graduates, and were centred on the following topics:
Secondly there were networking sessions, to allow all students to mix and discuss their options with the various employers as well as faculty staff and alumni. This also included ‘speed interview’ sessions, which gave students the chance to get up close with employers and test out their interview techniques, as well as receive feedback from the employers. The event received great reviews. Here are a couple of thoughts shared by attendees: ‘Thank you for all of your efforts in arranging last night’s event for us all. It was so well organised and we all had a great time'. Furthermore, the feedback that we were given from the employers was really constructive. 'I would definitely recommend this event to subsequent years’ ‘This event was excellent and I was very impressed with the quality of the candidates’. Back to news... |
