With a growing number of students considering a career in Human Resource Management, the Business School held its first ‘Spotlight on....’ event just before Christmas, with a focus on emerging issues in HRM. All undergraduate and postgraduate students with an interest in pursuing a career in this field were invited to attend the event.

Students were given the opportunity to network with practitioners and academics involved within the field. This was followed by a facilitated panel discussion with Senior HR Practitioners, and Kingston HRM Graduates and alumni.

The topics discussed included: ‘The effects of the credit crunch on the HR function’, ‘What makes a good HR Practitioner?’,’ HR’s role within business’, and the ‘future of HR’, as well as the students being given advice on how to be successful within the profession.

The event proved very popular and the Careers & Employability Team is now planning more ‘Spotlight’ events focussing on different fields. Comments on the event included:
